Nick Rodrigues (b. 1980) uses sculpture, performance, mixed media installation, and engineering to explore technology’s role in suppression and expression of individuality. Pushing every human innovation to its inhuman extreme, his work animates breathing Dorito bags and engenders electrical sockets with the ability to fornicate. He earned his BFA at Massachusetts College of Art in 2003, and his MFA at California Institute of the Arts in 2012. His work has recently been exhibited at the LTD and Laband Art Gallery, Los Angeles and The New Children’s Museum, San Diego. He has also contributed to collaborative exhibitions for The Berlin Biennale, Berlin and Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston, as well as co-founding Cart.life in Glassell Park.
